Shinn at 3 p.m.: Situations will dictate who takes the field

NORMAN — Freshman wide receiver Sterling Shepard was the breakout player in Oklahoma's last game against Kansas State. Shepard finished with seven catches for 108 yards in first career start.

Does that mean he'll have a larger role when the 17th-ranked Sooners face Texas Tech at 2:30 p.m. on Saturday?

"Each player will be more involved each game. A lot of that is determined by coverage," receivers coach Jay Norvell said. "We didn’t go into that game saying, ‘We’re going to get Sterling involved.’ We felt like he would be in position to make plays, and he did. (Quarterback Landry Jones) found him when he was supposed to. Certainly, Sterling will gain confidence from that performance and he’ll be ready to go this week."
