Shinn at 3 p.m.: Snyder a force at K-State

NORMAN — The Oklahoma-Kansas State game on Saturday is one of the marquee games in the country this weekend. That's a testament to how Kansas State has grown under coach Bill Snyder.

When he first started at Kansas State in 1989, the program was in such bad shape that it sold its home games against the Sooners in 1989 and 1991 back to OU so they could be held at Owen Field.

OU coach Bob Stoops was a Kansas State assistant back then and the staff was stunned when they learned about the contract.

"Coach Snyder and all of us we're talking and we were like, 'Can you believe this is the way we're operating here?'" Stoops recalled this week. "He (Snyder) couldn't do anything to change it at that time, but he changed it as soon as he could."

Saturday's game is scheduled to start at 6:50 at Owen Field.
