Shinn at 3 p.m.: Norvell likes option of four-receiver sets

NORMAN — One positive thing after the Kansas State game is the play of freshman receiver Sterling Shepard.

He led the Sooners with seven catches for 108 yards.

Shepard was used mostly in four-receiver sets. The Sooners hadn't used that formation in the first two games, but will going forward.

"I think it's good with the personnel we have right now," receivers coach Jay Norvell said. "We haven't really been in a lot of four-wide receiver sets in the five years I've been here. But we certainly have guys that are capable of doing that. I think we can grow as we move along this season."
