Oklahoma —
NORMAN — In the wake of the recent wildfires that swept through southern Cleveland County and other parts of the state, the Red Cross recorded 250 overnight stays at the shelters.
Nearly 30,000 meals, snacks and bottles of water have been served to date, according to an update from Ken Garcia, regional director of communications, American Red Cross/Central and Western Oklahoma Region.
Bulk distribution of rakes, shovels, sifter boxes and dust masks is happening across the affected area as needed. Teams remain in the field as well as at the resource centers, he said. More than 300 comfort kits and other bulk items have been distributed to date.
Shelters:
• Lexington: Will remain open, Slaughterville Baptist Church, 10101 60th St.
• Mannford: new location; moved from Sand Springs, First United Methodist Church, 100 E. Greenwood Ave.
• Cushing: Now closed and remains on standby, Cushing Senior Center, 203 E. Cherry
Four Resource Centers are open with partner agencies:
• Glencoe, Payne County — United Methodist Church, 113 S. Perry Ave., 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Wednesday through Friday
• Noble, Cleveland County — Twelve Corner Baptist Church, 15601 E. Etowah Road, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Wednesday through Saturday
• Luther, Oklahoma County — Luther Auditorium, 18955 NE 178th, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
• Mannford, Creek County — First United Methodist Church, 100 E. Greenwood Ave., 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Friday
