TULSA - They went down, but they went down fighting.
The Pryor Tigers gave 5A No. 14 Bishop Kelley a battle Friday night, but came up short 56-48.
The Tigers came out firing and a Jordan Madole three-pointer gave Pryor the early 7-6 lead. At the end of one, Pryor led 14-12.
Joe Dowdell got the Comets started in the second with a three-pointer to give the lead back to Kelley, 15-14. They would hold the lead until later in the quarter when two Matt Ogg free throws put Pryor up, 23-22. At the half, the Tigers led 26-24.
The back and forth game continued in the third quarter. Jack Cameron hit a jumper to put Kelley up 27-26, but Pryor answered right back with a P.J. Stimson layup to make it 28-27. The Comets built their biggest lead up to that point, going up 35-29, but Pryor battled back and a Kody Conley bucket and free throw tied the game back up at 37-37. At the end of the third, Kelley led 39-38.
The Comets pulled away in the fourth, as the lead got as big as 10. Pryor kept fighting, but couldn’t overcome the lead.
