Tigers destroy Eagles

Pryor made easy work of Seqouyah Claremore Monday in the opening round of the Pryor Invitational Tournament, as they squashed the Eagles 83-50.

The Tigers, a team which has started slow in the first quarter, remained composed as Sequoyah got off to an early 7-3 lead.

Led by a scoring spree from Pryor junior forward Daniel Frailey (six points in the final two minutes), who found a home for his mid-range jumper, the Tigers ended the first quarter on top by four.

Frailey and senior Chase Ross took turns scoring with strong post moves throughout the second period.

The Tigers led 39-25 at halftime.

Any hopes the Eagles had for making the matchup competitive were short-lived in the third, as guard Robert Ross caught fire. The sophomore drained four from long range to close the door on Sequouyah.

“I got in a bit of foul trouble in the first half,” Ross said. I felt like I needed to make up for it in the third and I feel like I did.”

Sophomore forward Ryan Ogg missed the game due to illness.

However, Pryor bench play was solid. Senior guard Thomas Ayres and sophomore guard Tyler Bradshaw struck from downtown and senior forward Matt Moss chipped in points in the second and fourth quarter.

Pryor takes on Vinita Friday at 7:15 p.m. in the semifinals.
