ELMHURST, Ill. - The Summit League announced Thursday that Oral Roberts women’s basketball player Kevi Luper was named the February Female Athlete of the Month.
Luper collects her first Athlete of the Month honor after leading the Golden Eagles to a 6-1 record during the
month en route to their first-ever
regular-season Summit League title. The freshman guard averaged 27.7 points, 5.0 steals, 4.1 rebounds and 2.6 assists during the month, while
shooting 49 percent (63-of-131) from the field, 33 percent (9-of-27) from
3-point range and 88 percent (57-of-65) at the free-throw line.
The Adair native had four
30-point games and set two Summit League records. Luper became the league’s all-time leader in single-season free-throws made (189) and set the
conference’s single-season scoring mark (744) at UMKC on Feb. 27. Luper also shattered ORU’s single-season steals record with 10 against Centenary on Feb. 20.
Luper scored 34 points with eight steals in the Feb. 13 win over IUPUI, while recording double-doubles against IPFW (33 points, 11 rebounds) and Centenary (31 points, 10 steals).
