The Boys & Girls Clubs of Green Country will be keeping a community basketball program alive for Mayes County 3rd-6th graders, previously hosted by The Optimist Club.
The goal for the “Making Memories Basketball Program” is to continue introducing the game, create a positive team environment for our youth and provide a positive experience full of memories they can carry with them.
Currently, there are eleven team sponsors from Pryor companies.
The basketball program will reach up to 128 of our local youth. There is a third-fourth grade and a fifth-sixth grade boys and girls division.
Each sponsored team will have at least one practice per week, one game per week and chance to win the tournament at the end of the season.
The Boys and Girls Club Making Memories Basketball Program will last six weeks, from January 2013 through February 2012
A company sponsorship is $225.
The sponsorship includes: your company name on the road signage in front of the Pryor Creek Recreation Center on game days and on a t-shirt for each player.
The sponsorship will also pay for practice time, game time, officiating and an opportunity for a child’s positive growth .
If you are interested in sponsoring a team, please call 918-825-9843, email makingmemoriesbasketball@gmail.com, or visit www.greencountrybgc.org.
The cost per player is $15.
Sign-up forms can be picked up at the Boys & Girls Clubs of Green Country RG Unit at 1111 SE 9th Street in Pryor or Brown & Brown Agency of Insurance Professionals, Inc. 208 N. Mill Street also in Pryor. You can also request a player sign up form by email at makingmemoriesbasketball@gmail.com. Anyone interested in sponsoring players can call 918-825-9843.
We are also still in need of coaches, referees, time & score keepers and a set up/ take down crew. Time taken to volunteer in helping making this program successful is greatly appreciated. Keep up with the program on the facebook page “Making Memories Basketball.”
