Pryor starts season with undefeated homestand

PRYOR, OK — The Pryor Tigers wrapped up a season-long four game homestand Monday with a 16-3 shellacking of East Central in five innings at Pryor Monday.

Pryor's Nate Wolfe picked up the win, his first on the season, pitching three innings and allowing two hits and no earned runs. He also fanned four Cardinals.

The Tigers picked up 12 hits, including a home run and a double from designated hitter Spencer Henson. The round-tripper is Henson's second on the season.

Henson went 2-for-3 and batted in three runs.

Speedy second baseman Casey Holloway picked up a single and stole three bases, bringing his total to eight on the season. Holloway swiped a school record 40 bases in 2012.

First-bagger Foster McCollough and rightfielder Kelvin Grubbs each went 2-for-3 on the day.

The Tigers also picked up wins in their season-opening district doubleheader in the elements against Tulsa Central (22-0, 15-0) and Saturday against Tulsa NOAH (10-2).

Grubbs, Anthony Martinez and Zack Hammock all improved to 1-0 on the mound this season.

Locust Grove tangled with Salina and Chouteau this weekend as well.

The Pirates opened the season with a 11-3 home win over Chouteau Friday. Chouteau led the Pirates 3-2 heading into the bottom of the second inning before the Locust bats heated up. The Pirates scored eight runs in the inning to take a commanding 10-3 lead.

Salina's Wildcats, ranked No. 4 in Class 3A, blanked the Pirates 7-0 Saturday at Locust Grove. The scoreboard went undisturbed until the third inning, when Salina picked up a 3-0 lead. The Wildcats extended their lead to 5-0 in the fourth and padded their lead with a run in each of the fifth and sixth innings.

Locust also visited Miami Monday, where they succumbed to the Wardogs 14-1. The Pirates stand at 1-2 on the year.

Salina dropped a 7-6 decision at Fort Gibson Monday to fall to 1-1 on the season.

Chouteau, 18-0 losers at home against Catoosa and 10-0 at Inola, drop to 0-3 to start the year.
