Adair teams improve to 2-0 with sweep of Chelsea
ADAIR - Coming into this season, the Adair Lady Warriors knew they were going to need another scoring option to complement Chelsey Stricklen.
Tuesday, they may have found it.
Chelsea double-teamed Stricklen all night, holding her to 10 points, but fellow senior Tamara Harris picked up the slack, scoring 19, and leading the Lady Warriors to a 59-40 victory.
Several Lady Warriors hit key shots in big spots. Adair hit four, three-pointers in the first period to jump out to a 16-7 lead. Katey Hatzenbuehler hit two and Harris and Stricklen each got one.
The Lady Warriors kept rolling into halftime, going up 30-11 into the locker room behind Harris’ 11 points.
Chelsea woke up a bit in the third, but Adair held the big lead. All of the Lady Warriors’ 12 points in the quarter came off three-pointers, two by Harris and one each by Hatzenbuehler and Stricklen.
With about four minutes left in the fourth quarter, Adair Head Coach pulled all but one of his starters with the Lady Warriors up 52-24. Chelsea made a little run to finish out the game, but couldn’t get close.
Harris led the way for the Lady Warriors with 19. Sarah Costas had 12 points off the bench. Stricklen had 10 points and led the Lady Warriors on the boards with six.

Peper’s double-double leads Adair
Heath Peper had a double-double as the Warriors held off the Dragons 53-40 in the nightcap.
Peper had 16 points and 10 rebounds, the majority of which came in the second half.
Like most games for the Warriors last year, scoring was at a minimum cause of sound defense. After falling behind 4-0, the Warriors went on a 9-2 run to end the quarter and led 9-6. The Warriors were held scoreless for the first 3:48, and a Peper jumper, his only points of the first half, gave the Warriors their first lead.
Each team scored 10 points in the second quarter, and Adair held a 19-16 lead at the half. Seth Stricklen scored all of his 13 points in the first half for the Warriors.
It was more of the same in the second half, as Adair held off Chelsea, taking a 28-27 into the fourth quarter. But it was all Warriors in the fourth, as Adair outscored Chelsea 15-3 in the final frame. Stricklen had two big steals in the fourth to help ice the game, and Chelsea Head Coach Chris Smith decided not to foul in the final
minutes, despite only being down by nine points with a 1:30 to go.
Lonnie Tharp led Chelsea with 13.
Adair returns to action Tuesday when they travel to Colcord. Tipoff is 6:30 p.m.
