Colcord Hornet attack too much for Adair Warriors, 35-7

ADAIR - The Adair Warriors weren’t just battling the Colcord Hornets Friday night.

They were also battling illness.

Several players were sick during the week and were limited in action. That helped Colcord cruise to a 35-7 victory over the Warriors.

Quarterback Christian Luper was one of those who was sick, and didn’t start on offense. Luper played on defense, but the offensive leader position was manned by a trio of Michael Fraley, Marshall Timmons and Brady Bradbury.

Fraley got the bulk of the snaps, Timmons came in when the Warriors needed to go to the air and Bradbury made a key pass in the second half.

The two teams swapped 3-and-outs on their first drive, but the Hornets got rolling on their second drive. 11 plays into the drive, Chris Aguilar scored on a 14-yard run.

Adair went 3-and-out once again, and Colcord found the end zone for a second time. This time, it was Darwin Davis on a 22-yard run.

At the end of the half, Colcord led 14-0. Adair was only able to pick up one first down in the first 24 minutes.

Adair got a little momentum in the first drive of the second half, but came up short on fourth down. The Hornets took advantage and Ethan Shelley scored on a 30-yard run.

The Warriors finally got on the board on their next drive. Timmons came in and marched Adair down the field. He had a 5-yard reception to Fraley and a 20-yarder to Bradbury.

Timmons scrambled for three yards, then Bradbury took his shot at quaterbacking, finding Logan Crawford for 11 yards.

Timmons went back under center and found Fraley for 21 yards. Fraley then went back to quarterback and threaded the needle to Garret Colwell for a 9-yard touchdown pass. Timmons added the extra point to make it 21-7.

Colcord got a 6-yard run by Shelley for a touchdown and an 8-yard run by Canaan Sherrell to cap off their scoring.

Davis led the Hornets with 179 yards rushing and receiving. Mason Hudson had a good game on defense for the Warriors getting two tackles for losses and an interception.

Adair hits the road for a tough one Friday. The Warriors travel to Tahlequah-Sequoyah to take on the unbeaten Indians. Kickoff is 7:30 p.m.
