Eichelberger’s walk-off RBI single KOs Claremore

PRYOR - What would a Pryor / Claremore game be without some seventh inning excitement and at least one rowdy parent getting kicked out?

Both of those happened Friday night in the 3A Tigers 3-2 victory over the visiting Zebras. Rhett Eichelberger hit a walk-off RBI single, scoring Shane Holloway and giving the Tigers the victory.

The teams came out strong with Claremore getting a run in the top of the first, and Pryor getting two in the bottom half.

After falling behind 1-0, Eichelberger led off the bottom half with an infield single. Blake Heston singled as well, putting runners at first and second. Claremore got the next two batters and looked like they might get out of the inning, but Christian Doty and Zekke Stump came up with back-to-back RBI singles to give the Tigers the lead.

Claremore tied it up in the top half of the second inning, and that would be all the scoring until the end. After giving up the two early runs, Ben Jacks got locked in and dominated Claremore the rest of the game. Jacks retired 17 of the last 19 batters he faced, only giving up one single and a walk. Claremore got a runner to third in the seventh inning, but Jacks got the strikeout to end it.

In the seventh, Holloway reached base on an error and Ryan Hendricks singled to right. Hendricks had hit the ball hard every time he had got up, but it went right to someone. This time it found its way through and put runner at first and second. That left it up to Eichelberger who smashed a grounder up the middle scoring Holloway.

Jacks got the win, going all seven innings and striking out five.

rout of Sapulpa

PRYOR - Two home runs and six Sapulpa errors made it an easy go of things for the 3A Pryor Tigers Thursday night. Christian Doty and Blake Heston hit home runs as the Tigers won 10-2 in five innings.

The Tigers got runs in every inning, starting out with a five run first. Sapulpa had taken the lead 1-0 in the top of the inning, but Pryor came back with five runs of their own in the bottom half.

Rhett Eichelberger started things off with a single to left, and Heston reached base on an error. Dalton Murphy singled to load the bases. An error on P.J. Stimson’s at bat brought in two runs and Doty followed with a three-run blast onto the T-Ball field.

Murphy’s RBI double in the second, scoring Heston, made it 6-1. Ben Jacks hit a double in the third inning. Zekke Stump struck out, but the ball got past the catcher. The catcher threw the ball to first wide, and courtesy runner Brett Mitchell came around to score. Stump was tagged out in a rundown between second and third. Tatyn Fee hit a RBI single later in the inning, scoring Ryan Hendricks and making it 8-1.

Sapulpa got a run across in the top of the fourth, but Heston got it back with one swing, a line drive over the right field fence, the first of his career.

In the fifth, Pryor loaded the bases on two walks and a Hendricks single. A catcher’s interference call on Heston’s at bat brought in the game ending run.

Shane Holloway took the mound for the Tigers, scattering six hits over five innings and striking out three.
