Dee Gerlach has resigned as Northeastern State softball coach.
Gerlach, NSU’s coach since 2000, won 234 games, setting a school record for best winning percentage in a season at 33-14 in 2007.
The RiverHawks concluded the 2012 season last week at 21-25.
“I have come to a point in my career where I believe it is the right time to move out of coaching while continuing my goal of acquiring a full-time, tenured faculty position,” Gerlach said. “I am very close to finishing my Ph.D. and the demands of coaching haven’t allowed me to fully dedicate my attention on completing my dissertation.”
