BEGGS - For the Chouteau Wildcats and Ladycats Saturday would prove to be a tough test as both teams fell in regional play.
For the Ladycats the key would be getting the ball to go in the hoop. Chouteau’s offense was not clicking and couldn’t get much going on the offensive end.
Fortunately the Cats brought their defense along like they did much of the season as they held the Eagles to 22 points in the first half and took the lead making it 23-22 Ladycats.
The second half of the game would go poorly for the Ladycats as the Lady Eagles offense, led by Hailey Robinson and her 23 points, would punish Chouteau.
Rounding off the game 48-40 would be the Morris Lady Eagles as they took the Regional Consolation Championship home.
L.J. Hochstetler led Chouteau with 12 points.
Adrienne Richards pitched in 10. Robinson led all scorers with 24.

Kellyville takes 2nd meeting with Chouteau
The Wildcats would come into Saturday afternoon with an impressive 16-8 record to take on Kellyville for the second time after beating them in districts.
Unfortunately, the Wildcats wouldn’t bring the same mentality as their first encounter.
The offense of the Kellyville Ponies was fast paced and that Chouteau defense just wasn’t getting it done.
Chouteau would go into the locker room at halftime trailing, 21-16.
Coming back out, the Wildcats took the lead for a short moment before handing it back over to the Ponies who would hold on during the third to make it 28-26 Kellyville.
Trailing still late in the fourth the Wildcats looked as if they could come back, but a foul would keep the ball with the Ponies, and they maintained a four point lead. It looked as if Josh Mahan could bring the Cats back while trailing after hitting a three but Kellyville would hold on, taking the consolation regional plaque, 41-36.
Both Chouteau Basketball teams finished strong this season and both were crowned district champs for the first time since 2007.
Mahan led Chouteau with 12 points. Josh Anderson added 10 points. Ryan Marts and Derek Jackson had 10 points apiece for the Ponies.
