TULSA - The Locust Grove girls lost a low scoring affair to Miami Saturday to end their season.
Loffer was first on the board for the Lady Pirates with a field goal and Courtney Freeman followed up with one of her own. Sabina Burton and Loffer would add four more points to take a 8-2 lead at the end of one.
Miami would tie the game up in the second, then take the lead before the break. The Lady Wardogs held Locust Grove to just three points in the quarter and led 13-11 at the break.
Coming out of the break Erica King fired from the field to tie things back up. Locust remained scoreless through much of the third period while the Lady Wardogs racked up 13 points. A Burton trey before break helped put the deficit to 10 before the last period.
The fourth was a tough one for the girls as they fought to stay in the game. They scored 20 points to give them a chance in overtime but foul trouble plagued them. King and Freeman both fouled out in the fourth. Breanna Jarrell posted a field goal and got the foul with just over two minutes left in the regulation game to get the Pirates within four points of Miami. Freeman’s fifth at 1:31 got Miami one more point 34-29. Loffer posted her deuce to keep them in the game. Balie Neel’s freethrow had the Lady Wardogs within three with under a minute to go in the game. Jarrel got a deuce and foul with 7.6 seconds left that tied the game.
The Lady Pirates headed into overtime with two on the bench and Neel and Jarrell with four fouls each. Jarrell headed to the bench first with 2:32 left in overtime and Neel followed with 47.6 seconds. Locust Grove’s only point in overtime came from a freethrow. Miami capitlized on freethrow opportunities hitting 7-of-10 shots.
Taylor Loffer and Courtney Freeman led Locust Grove with 10 points apiece.

Oologah stuns LG
The Oologah Mustangs pulled an upset Saturday and ended the Locust Grove Pirates season with a 71-57 final.
Locust Grove was first on the board with Adrian Houser’s freethrow making one of two. Oologah fired back with a three but Stafford came back with one of his own, the first of five in the game.
Locust Grove held the lead through the half. At one point in the second, the Pirates had a margin of a dozen points separating them and the Mustangs. Oologah worked back to within two, drawing nine fouls from Locust Grove in the second.
Ross came back from the break with back-to-back deuces and a free throw to keep a lead at the top of the third. The Pirates were a little cleaner in the third with only five fouls, one being a technical from Conner. The technical allowed the Mustangs to have an 8-point lead going into the fourth.
Foul trouble again plagued the Pirates in the fourth and were not able to gain an advantage back from Oologah. Ross was the first to foul out with 4:29 left in the game. Houser and Conner would follow him to the bench before the game was over. Locust Grove had a chance at the line in the fourth two but only sank 3-of-7 opportunities.
Stafford led Locust Grove with 23 points. Houser had 15 points. Jake Taylor led Oologah with 27.
