Taylor Arnold turned back two competitors in a playoff Tuesday and captured her first collegiate golf victory.
Arnold, a University of Arkansas-Fort Smith freshman from Pryor, carded a season-best, 13-over par 155 to win the Natural State Golf Classic at Red Apple Inn and Country Club in Heber Springs, Ark.
Arnold, who shot rounds of 78-77, went into the playoff with teammate Whitney Novak and Southern Nazarene’s Jordan Leibolo, who each had rounds of 79-76. Arnold and Novak finished 1-2, a first for UAFS.
Arnold helped UAFS finish second to Arkansas Tech in the eight-team field. Tech had a total of 626, 14 strokes better than UAFS.
