ADAIR —
The number 5 ranked Adair Lady Warriors added a victory to their win column after blowing out Kansas 62-47 at home Friday.
The Comets came out ready to compete in the first quarter, knocking down nearly everything thrown up.
Senior bench player Anna Crawford saw playing time early and was a force in the game. A hard block midway through the first from Crawford set the tone for what Adair would allow inside.
Accurate Comets shooting kept the game close, as Adair led by two after one quarter.
Kansas handled Adair’s press efficiently in the second. However, it was Adair junior guard Rendi Roger’s hot hand, via back-to-back three-pointer that helped the Lady Warriors head to the locker room up 31-24.
In the third, the undefeated Lady Warriors returned to true form, wearing down the Kansas with scoring from inside and out.
Sophomore forward Kylie Looney was struggling from the field, until back-to-back strikes from beyond the arc had the crowd on its feet.
“Coach Winfield told us at the break to come back out and take care of business, and that’s what we did,” Looney said.
Crawford led all Adair scorers with 14 points.
“I wanted to get her in early in this game for her inside presence,” Head Coach Scott Winfield said. “I thought she did a great job for us tonight, on both ends of the court.”
Junior Bailey Stephens finished with 12 points. Looney, Rogers and senior Raven Campos had eight apiece. Junior Jenny Fleming dropped six
Adair looks to continue their winning streak when they take on Inola on the road Saturday.
