Tigers look to bounce back

PRYOR — If Pryor needs a team to regain its confidence against after falling to Grove for the first time in school history last week, a 0-9 Claremore squad fits the bill.

The Zebras are coming off a 72-41 stomping by Bartlesville, and losing to opponents by 27.8 points on average.

Claremore is 6-9 against Pryor all-time, though it has lost by only four points to the Tigers for two consecutive years.

Still, Pryor, a team balanced with talent, can ill-afford to overlook a winless Claremore group after its three-point loss to an undersized Ridgerunners team less than a week ago.

After all, Pryor was 11-0 against Grove.

Pryor Head Coach Greg Arnold said he hopes the loss to Grove stung enough to awaken his team.

“Our first half intensity, defensively, was poor,” Arnold said. “When you let a team that is shooting as well as they did hang around, they’re (Grove) going to be a problem.”

The loss dropped the Tigers to .500 on the year.

A win over Claremore could be the confidence-booster (or an opportune chance to work out some kinks) Pryor needs before heading into battle against a rolling 8-3 Miami squad Saturday.
