BAXTER SPRINGS, Kan. —
The 3A Pryor Tigers took a trip out of state Saturday to play some teams they don’t get to see very often. The Tigers came away with two wins, 9-5 over Neosho, Mo. and a 15-0 win over Nevada, Mo.
In the opener against Neosho, the Tigers jumped on top 4-0 in the first, and led 8-1 after four innings. Neosho cut it to 8-3, before the Tigers added another run in the bottom of the fifth to make it 9-3. Neosho added two runs in the seventh to make thecontest a little closer.
Rowdy Dove led the Tigers with three RBIs. He went 2-for-4. Brett Mitchell was 2-for-2 with two RBIs including his first 3A home run of the season. Blake Heston was 2-for-3 with two RBIs. Chris Ashley and Shane Holloway also had RBIs.
Troy Whisman (3-0) got the win on the mound, going six innings and striking out two. Ashley got the save, his fifth of the season.
Pryor had a mucheasier time of things in the second game, blowing out Nevada, 15-0.
The Tigers got five runs in the first, two in the second, and four in the third and fourth.
Dove hit his fourth home run of the summer, and collected three RBIs. Dalton Murphy was 3-for-4 with five RBIs. Heston was 3-for-3 with two RBIs. Ashley was 1-for-3 with two RBIs. Holloway and Mitchell also collected RBIs.
Ashley (1-1) got the win on the mound,pitching the first three innings. Murphy finished off the game in the fourth.
The 3A Tigers host Hilldale Tuesday, 5:30 p.m.
