PRYOR, OK —
The Salina baseball team improved to 4-1 on the season with a 4-1 win at Class 2A's No. 8 team Ketchum in eight innings Tuesday.
The Wildcats took a 1-0 lead in the top of the first inning. The lead held until the bottom of the sixth, when the Warriors tied the game up. Salina got three runs in the top of the eighth and held Ketchum off to escape with the win.
Salina pitcher Jake Tolbert picked up his first win on the season in seven innings of action. Brent Soldier picked up the save.
Ranked third in Class 3A, the Wildcats will begin play at the Dickson Festival this weekend.
Pryor scored a measure of revenge against Tulsa Memorial Thursday, crushing the Chargers 12-1 at Memorial’s home field after the Chargers handed the Tigers a 5-1 defeat at Pryor Tuesday.
Tiger hurler Zack Hammock pitched a complete game and allowed just two hits. Hammock, a senior, improved to 2-1.
The Tigers exploded for eight runs in the decisive second inning.
The win moves Pryor to 5-3 on the season, including a 3-3 district mark.
Locust Grove went 1-1 on the week with a 10-1 home victory over Keys (Park Hill) Tuesday, followed by a 6-0 loss at Class 4A's ninth-ranked team, Catoosa. The Pirates' Monday game against Class 4A No. 13 Fort Gibson was postponed due to field conditions.
The Pirates' mark stands at 2-6.
The Chouteau Wildcats snared a 2-1 win over Class B's Braggs in pool play of the Okay Tournament Thursday. Chouteau was set for a 5:15 first pitch against Warner Friday.
Adair opened its season with a 7-3 home loss to Chelsea Tuesday.
