VINITA — Vinita’s state-ranked boys and girls swept a high school basketball doubleheader from Locust Grove Friday night.

The Vinita boys, third-ranked in Class 4A, defeated the 12th-ranked Pirates, 54-40.

Vinita’s girls, also ranked third, polished off Locust Grove, 63-37.

Both Vinita teams extended winning streaks.

Vinita’s boys won their 10th in a row, and improved to 16-3. Locust Grove is 11-4 after their first meeting with the Hornets.

Vinita’s girls made Locust Grove their eighth straight victim. Vinita is 16-3. Locust Grove is 10-6.
