BIXBY - It was just one of those nights.
The Adair Warriors could never get things going offensively, and ended their season to the hands of Verdigris, 51-36 in the area consolation finals.
The Warriors were held to just four field goals in the second half, after falling behind double digits in the first.
Verdigris sprinted out to a 11-3 lead, forcing a timeout by Adair. The Warriors regrouped and trailed just 13-7 after the first.
Adair cut it to four in the second quarter, 15-11, but Verdigris got hot and led 29-20 at the half. Also, Brady Bradbury picked up his third foul, and had to sit down.
Adair got in all kinds of trouble in the third quarter. Bradbury picked up his fourth foul, Logan Crawford fouled out, and Heath Peper let his emotions get the best of him and picked up a technical foul. Verdigris took advantage and led 40-26 going into the fourth.
The Cardinals held onto the lead in the fourth and earned their spot in the state tournament.
Bradbury led Adair with 12 points. Peper grabbed five rebounds in his final game as a Warrior.
Adair saw vast improvement this year. The Warriors won only seven games a year ago, but finished 22-4 this year, and came one win short of the state tournament.
