Boys lose by shutout

Special to The Times

TULSA — On the same day they were admitted to the high school Top 10, the Pryor Tigers were promptly ushered out of the Class 5A boys state soccer tournament.

The third-ranked Cascia Hall Commandos broke open a close affair at halftime Tuesday night and scored five goals in the second half to register a 6-0 victory in the opening round.

The loss ended the Tigers’ season at 5-6. They had not been ranked in the Top 10 before Tuesday.

Prior to game time, the Tigers found themselves in the No. 10 spot in the final edition of the OkRankings.com poll of soccer coaches.

Six players scored for the Commandos, who lifted their record to 11-3.

Cascia Hall, competing in 5A for the first time, had won five of the last six state championships in Class 4A. Cascia Hall was forced this school year to move up one classification by the Oklahoma Secondary School Activities Association.
