Obituary- William Peters

Funeral services for William Raymond “Eddie” Peters, 87, Pryor, are Thursday, March 14, 2 p.m., at First Free Will Baptist Church.  Pastor Thomas Ballard will officiate and burial will follow at Graham Memorial Cemetery. Services are entrusted to Stephens Memorial Chapel

Peters was born Sept. 9, 1925, in Shamrock, to Joseph A. and Verda (Weaver) Peters. He died March 11, in Tulsa.  

Peters was a lifetime resident of Pryor. He attended school at Browning Springs and Archer schools, south of Pryor. He was married to Waythena Hopper on March 16, 1947, in the Welch/Greenbrier community. He farmed, raised cattle and ran a dairy. He also worked 12 years at National Gypsum and 23  years with GRDA/OOWA as an operator at the water plant. Peters retired in 1985 at the age of 60. He was one of the founding members of Greenbrier Free Will Baptist Church, and served as a deacon at the church. He had been a member of the First Baptist Church, Pryor. He was presently a member of the First Free Will Baptist Church. Peters enjoyed serving the Lord as a teacher and deacon. He enjoyed gardening and providing his neighbors with an abundance of tomatoes and corn. He was known for raising the tallest, biggest and prettiest tomato plants. He was also an avid fisherman. His family was the most important part of his life, especially getting to spend time with his children and grandchildren.

He is survived by wife Waythena of the home; son Eddie Ray Peters and wife Sheryl of Pryor; three daughters, Alona Bellows and husband Andy of Austell, Ga., Betty Randolph and husband Ressie of Wagoner, Pamela Brumley and husband Roger of Neosho, Mo.; 13 grandchildren, Daryl Bellows and wife Heather, Michael Bellows and wife Tara, Angela Cobb and husband Daniel, Kim Shindler, John Randolph and wife Teresa, Chad Peters and wife Misty, Lori Peters Cowan, Jana Peters, Rodney Peters, Berrik Brumley, Cody Brumley and wife Breanna, Keeva O’Mealey and husband Matt; 14 great-grandchildren, Hillary, Drew, Liam, Riley, Ansley, Dylan, Sabra, Elliot, Haylee, Morgan, Raylee, Trent, Payton, and Charlotte, one great -great- grandchild James; brother Owen Peters and wife Rollo; two sisters, Ollie Due and husband Sib, Lydia Willis and husband Erven all of Pryor. He was preceded in death by his parents, grandson Shannon Randolph and 12 brothers and sisters.
