Obituary: Hazel Conseen

Graveside services for Hazel Conseen, 96, Clearwater, Fla. formerly of Locust Grove are 10 a.m. Saturday, at Hogan Cemetery in Locust Grove. Pastor Anthony Ross will officiate. Visitation is 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Friday at Key Funeral Home in Pryor. Services are under the direction of Key Funeral Home in Pryor.

Conseen was born on Jan. 19, 1916 in Dallas, Texas to Robert and Ann (Kelley) Clark. She died June 19, at her home in Clearwater, Fla.

Conseen grew up and attended school in various states and towns as her family moved around in order for her father to find work during the Great Depression. She left school around 8th grade to help raise her younger siblings and help her mother at home. She was married to Frank Conseen in 1933 in Calif. and they made their home there for a few years. They later moved to Okla. After he passed away in 1955, Conseen went to nursing school at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Blackwell, where she received her LPN training and became a nurse. She worked in Arkansas City and met and married her second husband, Ireland Clouse in 1957. They lived in Blackwell for many years.

She was married to Fred Conseen in 1980 and they lived in Denver, Colo. for 20 years; after his death she moved to Clearwater, Fla. to live with her oldest daughter, Ann, and had remained there since.

Conseen was an artistic lady; she enjoyed crocheting, doll making, gardening and sewing. She was a cook; growing up during the great depression, she knew how to stretch her food and could make a full meal even when the pantry and refrigerator looked bare. She enjoyed caring for her family and spending time with them was special to her.

She is survived by four children, Ann Collier of Clearwater, Fla., Dinna Burns of Tulsa, Tom Conseen and wife Bev of Pryor and George Clouse and wife Jorga of Red Rock; 10 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren and 14 great-great-grandchildren and one brother Mike McCune of Idaho.

She was preceded in death by her parents, three husbands, two brothers and one sister.
