Rosemary Hoffmann Detjen died March 18, 2012, in Dallas, Texas, after a brief illness. She was born February 15, 1913, in Saint Louis, Mo., and lived in Tulsa, as a child and young adult. She was a graduate of Tulsa University where she belonged to Chi Omega sorority. Her enjoyment of literature was reflected in her profession. She taught high school English and journalism for many years in Corning, Ark.; Pryor, and Douglas, Ariz. She was preceded in death by her husband, Richard L. Detjen, D.O. She is survived by three daughters and spouses, Jim and Barbara Coates, Dallas, Texas; Robert and Claire Redden, Broken Arrow; and Millicent Schainker, Portland, Ore. Other survivors are grandchildren Allen Coates, Johnson City, Tenn.; Richard Schainker, Portland, Ore.; Roslyn Coates, Dallas, Texas and Michelle Gilbreth, Broken Arrow; two great-grandchildren Logan Schainker and Michelle’s daughter Corrin Totten; Michelle’s fiancé Troy Totten and his other children Tierney and Drake; and friends Clinton Hill and Greg Coleman, Dallas, Texas.
Following interment at Pryor Fairview Cemetery, a graveside memorial service is 11 a.m. Saturday and will be conducted by her grandchildren with the assistance of Shipman’s Funeral Home.
