Larceny charges filed on LG man

LOCUST GROVE — A Locust Grove man has been charged with grand larceny and attempted grand larceny, both charges are AFCF, or after the former conviction of a felony.

A warrant for the arrest of Edwin Leonard Wilden, 40, was issued on July 21 for the crimes.

In November 2009, Wilden attempted to steal a 14-foot trailer from the property of Laura Wade.

“He knocked on my door, but I didn’t answer because I didn’t know who he was,” Wade said of the incident. “I stood there and watched the whole thing.”

Wilden drove his RAV4 up to Wade’s trailer and hooked it up, then attempted to drive off. The trailer was chained to a fence, and Wilden was unable to drive away.

According to the probable cause affidavit, Wilden “continued to pull, attempting to pull the fence down. When he was unable to do so, he stopped his vehicle and unhooked the trailer, then left the area.”

Damages to the fence were around $700 and the trailer was worth $1,500.

Fast forward to

Feb. 18, when Wade spotted Wilden and his RAV4 at Homeland where she had been doing some shopping. She wrote down the tag number and gave it to police.

On May 19, a trailer was stolen from the home of Cliff Flock, on Veyda Street in Pryor. He re-

ported it missing and

provided a photo of the trailer to police.

Pryor Police Detective Steve Lemmings discovered that the trailer had been sold to Brandon Harris at Discount Trailers in Tulsa.

“He stated that Edwin Wilden sold them the trailer on May 20,” Lemmings reported. Wilden had provided his driver’s license and the information on his RAV4 to make the sale. Flock later identified the trailer as being the one stolen.

When Lemmings questioned Wilden about both incidents, he admitted to stealing the trailer belonging to Flock, but didn’t remember the incident

at Wade’s residence because he was “heavily medicated.”

Wilden was convicted in 2009 in Mayes County for second-degree bur-glary. He was convicted in Washington County of possession of a controlled dangerous substance in Oct. 2006. He’s also had convictions in Pawnee County on charges of grand larceny and Tulsa County on drug charges in 2000.

His bond on the recent charges is $100,000.
