Pryor Municipal Utility Board had only three water breaks during the December snow storm. The update was provided to board members during the Jan. 19 meeting.
“One was at NE First and Kentucky. This was a ring around the six inch cast iron line,” the report stated. “The second was a broken six inch line at the tap to Washington School and the third was a broken 4-inch valve at E. Graham and North Coo-Y-Yah.”
Water crews are also replacing a 4-inch cast iron water line with 6-inch PVC on North Coo-Y-Yah from Graham Ave. to NE Fourth Street. Fire plugs were also added.
Also being replaced is a two inch steel water line with 8-inch PVC on South Veyda. Fire plugs were replaced in that area.
Gas crews are performing maintenance until the weather clears up.
“Meters were exchanged at 114, 118, and 122 E. Graham Ave.,” Foreman Scott Rice reported. Crews are also replacing a 2-inch gas line between Locke Street and Harris Street from Park to SE Second Street. The project is ongoing.
Electric crews have been busy rebuilding line in the unit block between North Vann and Rowe Street. The crews started reconductoring and replacing poles.
“This line feeds the Kidney Dialysis building and will have the capability of being fed from two directions,” the report stated.
In other business, General Manager Gary Pruett informed the board that MUB received two surprise inspections.
“The first inspection was by DEQ at the Wastewater Treatment Plant,” he reported. “No major issues were found.”
The second inspection was by Oklahoma Corporation Commission at the warehouse on the underground fuel storage tanks.
“New requirements have been implemented by OCC and the Municipal Utility Board may want to explore the possibility of above ground fuel storage tanks,” he said.
A notice from Mayor Jimmy Tramel was received by MUB informing them of trash rate increases.
“Please increase all trash pickup rates by three percent effective March 1, 2010, as stated in the Solid Waste Disposal Agreement, Section B,” the letter read. “All trash pickup rates shall have a minimum increase of three percent annually.”
