Salina cook retires after 37 years

The Salina School Board met April 9 and accepted the retirement of Ruby Pritchett, the cafeteria cook of 37 years.

Also, the board approved all encumbrances, purchase orders, payrolls and expenditures. The board approved fundraising requests for the high school to sell beef jerky and have a possible bake sale. The money raised will go toward the last day of the school’s “fun day.”

The board approved four professional days for teachers to take place before the school year begins for teacher training. The board approved nine days for late start times. School begins at 8:10 a.m. The late start time will be 10:10 a.m.

The board approved a waiver for the middle/high school librarian who is working toward a master’s degree in library science.

The board approved the contract with Drugs of Abuse Testing Laboratory, Inc.

In order for a student to participate in extracurricular activities he or she must first submit to a drug test.

The board approved Josten’s company for the yearbook.

The board approved the Tulsa Model for teacher evaluation that was approved by the state board of education for Teacher Learning Effectiveness.

The board discussed whether the Tulsa Model would be the only evaluation model approved by the board. The board decided that the Tulsa Model would be the only evaluation utilized for the 2012-13 school year.

The board approved the McRel evaluation model for leader evaluation. Leader evaluation is for principals. The board decided that McRel would be the only evaluation model used for principals.
