An arrest warrant has been issued for a Locust Grove man in connection with an August traffic
accident.
Kasey Lane Bright, 21, has been charged with a misdemeanor count of negligent homicide.
According to the probable cause affidavit, Oklahoma Highway Patrol Trooper Derek Humphrey reported to the injury collision between Bright and a vehicle driven by Monica Rachelle Flynn.
Her daughter, 15-year-old Candice Jade Pryor-Smith, was a passenger in Flynn’s vehicle. She died the following day.
A witness stated that Bright’s vehicle, a black and red Dodge pickup, crossed the centerline and was traveling northbound in the southbound lane of traffic. Flynn was southbound in a red Ford Windstar.
“The driver of the red Ford reduced speed and saw that the red and black Dodge was not going to move back into the northbound lane,” Humphrey reported. Both drivers swerved, colliding in the northbound lane.
Bright told the trooper that “he had looked back to check his cargo in the bed of the truck and when he turned around, was in the southbound lane.”
Humphrey concluded that speed was not a factor in the crash. A $2,500 bond was listed on the warrant.
