Mayes County —
Voters will decide the fate of sales tax Nov. 6.
The resolution calling for an election on the question of allowing an additional three eights of one percent of county sales tax to be set aside for road funds was approved by the county commissioners Monday. The money would provide more maintenance and work toward building new roads. The commissioners passed a proclamation calling for a special election.
In other business, the commissioners:
• Approved a Rural Economic Action Plan grant resolution for Strang Senior Citizen Center. The grant was approved last week, but was named incorrectly.
• Approved a Rural Economic Action Plan grant for Salina Senior Citizen Center. The grant is for $48,600 and will be used to replace a pedestrian bridge that runs to the parking lot.
• Approved a Rural Economic Action Plan grant for Mayes County District 2. The money will be used for new, computerized fuel tanks. The tanks will be larger than the old ones.
• Approved adopting a resolution approving the execution of a Ground Lease Agreement between Independent School District No. 1 of Mayes County and Mayes County Public Facilities Authority and a Lease/Purchase agreement between said Authority and said School District; and containing other provisions relating thereto.
• Approved a transfer in T-County Highway funds.
• Approved a deposit of $58,985 for District 2 from Cherokee Nation for roadwork in Spavinaw into the T-County Highway fund.
• Tabled action concerning the approval of Roadway Design and Construction Standards for Mayes County.
• Approved the financial statement for the general and health fund for Fiscal Year 2012-2013.
• Approved consideration of claims for payment.
• Approved request for blanket purchase orders.
The next regularly scheduled meeting of the Mayes County Commissioners is 9:30 a.m., Aug. 20, at the Mayes County Courthouse.
