A Mayes County man was arrested and charged with felony child abuse after investigation showed he shook his three-month-old son.
A warrant for the arrest of Jarod Daniel Scott, 20, Kenwood, was issued Tuesday, Dec. 22.
“We received a call from St. Francis Hospital regarding a patient they were
treating,” Pryor Police Detective James Willyard said. “The injuries on the child were consistant with child abuse and that they suspected abuse.”
Willyard traveled to St. Francis along with a representative of Department of Human Servcies Child Welfare Services to investigate.
Further tests revealed that the infant displayed symptoms that
doctors felt were consistant with shaken baby syndrome.
During additional investigation, Scott admitted to shaking the baby as well as dropping the child while picking him up from a bath chair.
Scott is in the Mayes County Jail on $50,000 bond.
The baby is expected
to recover.
