Locust Grove police discover mobile meth lab
Locust Grove police office Terry Springwater discovered what he believed to be the making of a mobile meth lab after making a routine traffic stop Monday evening.
Police Chief Nathan Raith said that officer Springwater pulled over Terry Sitsler, 51, of Pryor, after allegedly failing to stop at a stop sign. Springwater discovered the driver was driving under suspension and his passenger Virgil Leon Sitsler, 47, had warrants in Cherokee county.
After arresting both the driver and passenger, Springwater began to inventory the vehicle so that it could be impounded. Raith said that during the inventory process, Springwater discovered several components needed to manufacture methamphetamines.
Springwater then called the Mayes County Sheriff’s office for assistance. Raith said later the Pryor police department was called to help with the dismantle the lab. Officers of the Drug Enforcement Agency were also on hand for the removal of the components.
Locust Grove Police Department charged both Terry Sitsler with driving under suspension, failure to stop at a stop sign, possession of a controlled and dangerous substance (CDS) and manufacturing of CDS. Virgil Sitsler was also charged with possession of CDS and manufacturing of CDS.
Both men were booked into the Mayes County Jail.
