Locust Grove seniors will still be able to use the nutrition center thanks to the efforts of local citizens.
Renee Moore, the former site manager for the Community Action Resource and Development center in Locust Grove, is continuing the effort, though CARD is no longer in the picture.
“My heart was crushed after hearing that Locust Grove and other nutrition centers were going to close,” Moore said.
After talking with Mayor Vicki Herr, and securing the use of the building, Moore is ready to get going.
“We want to keep the seniors active and make sure they have a nutritional meal,” she said.
Grand Gateway is expected to assist the effort, but donations will be essential to the programs success.
The Locust Grove Nutrition Center is open Monday through Friday, from
8 a.m. to noon.
Food and cash donations are appreciated.
To volunteer, or to participate in their Adopt-a-Senior program for $10/week, contact Renee Moore at (918) 373-1820.
