PCRC has new aquatics director
Pryor City Council approved a new aquatics coordinator and new city ordinances in their Tuesday meeting.
Traci Johnson is the new aquatics coordinator at Pryor Creek Recreation Center. Council approved her hire Tuesday at a yearly salary of $26,800.
Council approved pay rates for instructors teaching specialized classes at the rec center. PCRC Director Shane Simpson set up the plan as a possible way to bring more revenue for the rec center.
The recreation center board approved the special pay rates with at least a 25 percent profit margin. The instructor pay will be determined on the projected revenue and profit margin.
The approval of a
special class would depend on the number of participants. Fees will be collected before the course begins.
Council approved the purchase of new equipment for the weight room. The rec center is getting a new leg press and a new ab and hip reducing machine. The city is buying the equipment from Cybex for $6,753.95. The cost includes delivery and installation.
The rec center pool will be shut down Dec. 7 to 18 for maintenance and upgrades. The drain cover must be replaced with a federally mandated drain cover. Safari Aquatics will replace the drain for $8,203.
Council passed two ordinances regarding city court costs and collection fees.
The first ordinance raised court costs to $30 instead of $25. Jail costs of $22 a day are now the responsibility of the offender. The city can intercept an offender’s income tax refund if fees are unpaid.
The second ordinance places responsibility of collection fees on the person fined. The fined person must now pay the 35 percent collection fee in addition to the fine.
• Council approved new body armor for Pryor Police Department. The cost for 28 protective vests is $15,246, with a grant reimbursement of $7,623. The city is buying the vests from American Body Armor at a cost of $544.50 per vest. Other quotes were from Patrol Technology at $544.40 each, Special-Ops Uniforms at $563.98 each, Cruse Uniforms & Equipment at $590 each and Oklahoma Police Supply at $669.96 each.
• The City of Pryor will pay $15,930.93 to Mayes County District 1 for chipping and sealing city streets per agreement.
• The Mayes County Fair Board received a $8,750 grant from hotel/motel taxes. The city also approved a hotel/motel grant to Pryor Band Boosters for $2,767.
