Chouteau First Baptist Church held their groundbreaking May 31 for a new 26,000 square foot building on Highway 69 in Chouteau. On hand for the ceremony were Dean Neal, chairman of new building committee; Willie Mae Crow, eldest member of the church at 97; Ellard Skinner, Lola Slinkard, Betty Chupp and Wayne Holcomb; and Pastor Tom Landsaw. Behind them are members of the staff and steering committee. The church will house 500 for worship, fellowship and education with room for expansion. The goal is to move into the church in 2010, when the congregation celebrates their 100th anniversary.
