A 23-year-old Locust Grove man was arrested after he crawled through the window of a stranger’s home and plopped down to watch TV Saturday.
The homeowner, Joy Hamilton, heard some noise from the living room and thought it was her son watching TV.
She tapped on Jacob Leach’s shoulder and realized he wasn’t her son. When she screamed, the intoxicated Leach got up to leave the residence, saying the house used to belong to his friend.
When he was outside, Hamilton screamed she was calling the police, and Leach took off.
Locust Grove Police Officer Nate Cooper received the call at 4:53 a.m., and responded to the scene. He began looking for Leach who was hiding in a nearby wooded area. Leach was located at 6:13 a.m., and put under arrest.
He was taken to the Mayes County Jail on complaints of first-degree burglary and public intoxication. He had warrants for previous charges, including assault and battery on a police officer, domestic assault and battery and breaking and entering. Bond was not set. Leach will be required to pay the fines and costs on all cases before being released. The fines total over $76,000.
