TYA featured on RSU TV
The local Youth Programs Division of the National Guard will be featured on RSU-TV “Green Country Perspectives with Sam Jones” Friday, May 8, 8:30 p.m.
Other airings of the program are Sunday, May 10, 6:30 p.m., and Wednesday, May 13, at
1 p.m.
The program will highlight all youth programs, including Thunderbird Youth Academy (TYA), Thunderbird Regimented Training Program (TRTP) and State Transition and Reintegration System (STARS).
TYA began in September 1993, and includes a 22-week residential program. TYA has graduated 2,823 cadets since the program began.
TRTP began in 1995 and is a 16-week residential program for at-risk adjudicated youth ages 13-18 who are in the custody of Oklahoma Juvenile Affairs. The program is funded through the state.
STARS was introduced in 1998 and can be used as an alternative to detention for youths.
