The house fire on North 426 Road where the body of Michael Robert Cobb was found last Tuesday was ruled arson, according to the state fire marshal’s office.
Assistant State Fire Marshal JoAnne Sellars said the fire is still under investigation. Sellars said the marshal’s office is not prepared to release any further details about the investigation.
Cobb, 39, who was a firefighter with Osage Fire Department, was last seen at an Osage Fire Department meeting Tuesday night approximately one hour before the fire.
After the flames were knocked down, firefighters discovered a body inside the residence. The body was thought to be Michael Cobb, and the medical examiner’s office confirmed the body belonged to Cobb.
Sellars said the report will be sent to the Mayes County Sheriff’s office.
Investigator Charles Smallwood said he cannot comment on pending investigations, but did say the sheriff’s office hasn’t seen any report from the fire marshal’s office as of Monday afternoon.
