Two bikers were seriously injured Thursday afternoon when their motorcycle ran off a cliff near Spavinaw.
Driver Carl Wampler, 63, and his wife Linda Wampler, 60, Prairie Grove, Ark. were northbound on Highway 20 when the accident occurred.
Carl failed to negotiate a curve a mile south of Spavinaw. The 2002 Honda ran off the left side of the roadway and over a steep embankment.
Oklahoma Highway Patrol Trooper Ben Bertram’s report stated the motorcycle “overturned an undetermined number of times” before coming to a stop.
Two Eagle Med Air Ambulances transported the Wamplers to St. John’s Hospital in Joplin, Mo. Both were listed in serious condition with head, trunk internal and external and arm and leg injuries.
Bertram stated the Wamplers were wearing helmets.
