Allred Theater is converting to digital technology. One screen is set up to be viewed through digital equipment. Theater owner Gene Oliver said the films come in a container as digitized packaging. The digitized films are loaded into the machine, which ingests or downloads the films. The next step is downloading the movie onto the computer and separating previews, trailers and movie content. Each film purchased comes with a code key which has all the equipment numbers for the machines, which means Allred Theater is the only place in the world where the film can be downloaded. Oliver referred to digital theaters as “the biggest thing since talking pictures.” By the end of April, all five Allred screens will be digital. Oliver said Allred Theater will be the only completely converted theater in Oklahoma with three
3-D screens.
