Jubilee Ministries is busy preparing for two events in two weeks.
The congregation at the Locust Grove church is preparing for both events this month. The first event is a concert by the Boothe Brothers. The second is a benefit for Lexi Horton, a 13-year-old who was hospitalized for over a month after becoming ill during the E-coli 0111 outbreak.
The first big event scheduled for October is the Booth Brothers concert. The Booth Brothers will perform live Saturday, Oct. 11. The doors will open at 6 p.m.
The purpose of the concert is to help the church raise money for
several members of the congregation who are going to Argentina on a
mission trip.
“There are about 20 member of our church going to Argentina. The concert will not only bring in good music but raise money for the churches of Argentina," said Brooke Cooper, a member of the church.
Tickets for the concert are $20 at the door. Those going on the mission trip will sell the tickets for $15. Tickets can also be bought at the Bible Bookstore, Fisher Christian Life Store and All-American Auto. Tickets may also be purchased by calling the church at 479-6979 and leaving a message.
A few of the members who have $15 tickets are John Blackwell and his wife Weslie, Brooke Cooper and her daughter Jensen, Bob Huffman, Leroy Blackwell, Mandy Hooker, Drew Conklin, Jesse Stark, Bill and Darlene Williams.
“We are going next May or early June after school gets out,” said Cooper. The group will be gone seven days and they will help build a church while in Argentina.
The Booth Brothers are a made up of award winning lead singer Ronnie Booth, tenor Michael Booth and baritone Jim Brady. They have appeared on the Bill Gaither Homecoming tour and have their own heavy touring schedule.
The second big event is a benefit for Horton Friday, Oct. 17 at 6:30 p.m. The church will have a bean supper with beans, corn bread, cobbler and drinks for $5. There will also be a gospel singing including Jubilee Ministries church members, the Pittmans and many
others.
The church set up a silent auction to help raise money for the Horton family. The auction will include a $100 gift certificate from the Pryor-Claremore Eye Clinic, a $100 gift certificate to Bonea Photography and a Styrofoam cooler filled with sand bass fillets. There will also be a pie auction.
Monetary donations will also be accepted. Anyone interested in donating to the silent auction or pie auction should contact the church at 479-6979 and leave a message.
