Soap box derby returns to Spavinaw
The town of Spavinaw is having its annual Soap Box Derby race. The race will run down Main Street on Saturday, July 5. Sign-in starts at
4 p.m. The race starts at 5 p.m. Drivers will need to be accompanied by their legal guardian at sign-in.
The rules are as follows:
The car will need some kind of brakes. The car must have basic steering.
No spring launchers or motors, gravity power only. The car must fit a 4’x8’ starting ramp. Drivers must be 16 years or younger.
Trophies will be presented including one for the most outrageous entry, so make sure and use your imagination! There is no entry fee.
There will be a parade starting at 11 a.m. Drivers and sponsors are welcome to haul there cars in the parade. Spavinaw will also be raffling off a 150cc Rocketta Scooter after the parade, proceeds will go toward the fireworks fund.
