The Pryor Board of Education hired a new school superintendent at a
special meeting yesterday.
The board hired Donald R. Raleigh Jr. of Collinsville. Smiling Pryor school principals and board members shook hands with Raleigh and welcomed him to the school system.
Raleigh, 43, said he is very excited.
“I appreciate the opportunity to build on Dr. Burdick’s legacy,” he said.
Raleigh graduated with a bachelor’s degree in Natural Sciences from Northwestern Oklahoma State University in Alva. He earned his master’s in Curriculum and Instruction from Oklahoma State University in Tulsa.
Raleigh’s employment history includes serving at Rogers State University in Claremore as an instructor and counselor. He taught and coached in high schools, both in Texas and at Sequoyah High School in Claremore.
