Former coach gets two years in prison

A former Spavinaw coach was sentenced Friday to two years in prison for pleading guilty to two counts of lewd molestation.

Dustin Mauldin, 25, was accused of allowing a 13-year-old girl on his softball and basketball teams to touch his penis on the outside of his clothing on at least two occasions.

District Judge James Goodpaster sentenced Mauldin to two years on both counts, which will run concurrently. After being released from prison, Mauldin will begin serving eight years of probation and will have to register as a sex offender.

He was ordered to pay a $500 fine, $100 to the victim’s compensation fund and court costs for both charges.

He was taken into custody Friday, Jan. 4 to begin serving his sentence.
