A 33-year-old Locust Grove man is being held in the Mayes County Jail for allegedly sexually abusing three girls, ages 2, 4 and 5.
Kenneth Melton, 33, Locust Grove, was charged Thursday with three counts of child sexual abuse, with each carrying a penalty up to life in prison.
Court records state Melton engaged in several sexual acts, including intercourse, with the three girls.
Investigator Scott Yeager learned of the abuse through Department of Human Services Child Welfare Specialists Brad Siegenthaler and Denise Hoos.
One of the girls told a daycare worker of an incident where Melton sexually abused her.
The daycare worker contacted DHS.
“DHS responded immediately and appropriately, as they do on all cases,” said Yeager.
Hoos conducted a forensic interview with the two girls and turned her findings over to Yeager.
“DHS did an excellent job,” Yeager said.
Yeager interviewed Melton and he admitted to having sexual contact with the two girls.
Melton was arrested and taken to the Mayes County Sheriff’s Office where he was mirandized.
During a video taped interview, Melton confessed to several sexual acts with the three girls.
Melton is being held in the Mayes County jail on a $100,000 bond. His next court date is July 12 at 9:30 a.m.
