PRYOR —
Pryor City Hall may cost more than the town bargained for. Voters passed a bond which was to include the construction, with furnishings, at approximately $2.5 million.
The city council denied a motion at the Tuesday meeting to approve a guaranteed maximum price amendment for the project in the amount of $3,191,556. This amendment would add $691,556 to the price.
Pryor City Councilman Drew Stott questioned the price increase, saying originally the public was told the whole project would cost about $2.5 million, including furnishings. The new maximum price does include any furnishings and exceeds the amount allowed in the bond issue.
Chris Ball of CMS Willowbrook said there were some costs built into the maximum price that might be cut. He said the generator price was included in the costs, but the Municipal Utility Board would be covering that cost and emergency management will pay for the safe room.
The motion was denied with four no votes and three yes votes. The item has a chance to be back on the agenda at the next council meeting either written in the same way, or with changes.
Mayor Jimmy Tramel was not at the meeting to answer council members’ questions.
