Downtown Muskogee, Inc. will host the annual Muskogee’s Heritage Days: A Living History Festival Oct. 12 and 13 in the Historic Depot District at Third and Elgin Streets downtown.
Follow in the footsteps of the legendary lawman on the Bass Reeves Legacy Trail Walking Tour. The walking tour, on Oct.12, starts at Three Rivers Museum at 5:30 p.m. Costumed interpreters will tell the story of one of the most significant lawmen in Indian Territory history.
Bass Reeves was a slave in Texas who escaped at the outset of the Civil War and fled into Indian Territory. Tickets for the tour are $15 and available from Downtown Muskogee, Inc. Call (918) 683-2400 for reservations.
At 8 a.m. on Saturday, the Muskogee Farmers Market at the Civic Center will open its Fall Harvest Festival.
The afternoon brings a fun competition for visitors to the Depot District with the second annual Outhouse Races at 1 p.m.
