The 2010 Census numbers are in and the population of Mayes County has grown from 38,369 in 2000 to 41,259 in 2010.
In a nation of 311,072,943 people, Oklahoma saw an increase in population from 3,450,638 in 2000 to 3,751,351 this year.
In Mayes County, Pryor is the largest community with 9,539 residents. Chouteau is second with 2,097. Locust Grove has 1,423 while Salina has 1,396. The Kenwood community boasts a population of 1,224, Langley has 819 and Adair has 790.
Residents in the Ketchum area number 442 while there are 437 in Spavinaw and 421 in Pin Oak.
A total of 322 live in Sportsmen Acres and 312 live in Cedar Crest. There are 311 in Disney, 285 in Rose and 257 in the Snake Creek area.
In the Ballou community, there are 176 people, Murphy has a population of 219 and Pumpback has 175 in the area.
There are 137 in the Sam’s Corner area, 125 at Pensacola, 92 at Iron Post, 91 at Mazie and 89 at Mazie.
There are 75 people in Wickliffe, 74 live on the Mayes County side of Grand Lake and there are four
people in Hoot Owl.
