TULSA (AP) — Tulsa police say a 3-year-old girl shot herself in the leg after she found a loaded handgun in her parents’ bedroom.
Capt. Karen Tipler says the shooting happened at about 10 p.m. Tuesday. Tulsa television station KOTV reports that the girl’s parents were home at the time of the shooting, but the child was alone in the parents’ bedroom.
The girl was taken to a Tulsa hospital with a wound to the upper leg. Police say the girl’s injuries do not appear to be life-threatening.
Police say child crisis detectives will talk to the parents but no charges have been filed.
